this compact rowing maching is pretty great. that is what i like about it the most. it doesn’t take up too much space at 54 inches long just a little pass 4 feet. i like that it has 12 level adjustment. i usually work out around level 6 and my spouse at level 8. it is definitely a great full body work out. i think i will use this about twice a week. Winter is coming so i may change it to 4 times a week. anyways, it is a great price point. The nonslip pedals and the smooth slide rail make it a win for me.

Before I get into some of the negatives, I did want to point out a few positives:
1. Once it is put together, it works well. The hydraulic bar has a noticeable change in tension and gives you a reasonable workout.
2. It is very light, so moving it around and putting it away is easy. The wheels are also a nice touch.
3. The adjustable seat height helps add different difficulty levels to enhance the hydraulic pressure for those who want an even more difficult workout.
4. The adjustable feet extenders are great for getting the unit level even on uneven services.
The cons are why I gave it 3 stars instead of 5.
1. The biggest issue is it is an absolute pain to assemble. There are a ton of different pieces that are unique to their use but are not identified well in the instructions. The instructions were part of the issue. They just had some images of what it would look like at that stage, but they tried to do too much per image. The screws and tools are not organized well on a really difficult package, which forces a lot of them to stick to the wrapping.
2. The plastics are pretty cheap. The screen is chap plastic, but most plastics are not very durable. The feet feel very cheap, and while the metal pieces and the seat feel very sturdy, a device that requires the feet to be very stable is super worrisome.
3. In addition, if you pull the bar too close to your body (or, if you are like me, your body sticks out a little too far), the screen can bump into you and might fly off. As I found from experience.
When using it, it is one, and I like having it, but I was very disappointed with the setup and some of the plastic choices.

One of my favorite pieces of exercise equipment has always been the rower. It was one of the first machines I ever used, there was one in the gym where my mom would have her volleyball practices, a simple thing made of wood, that I would pass the time on because I thought it was fun. 30 some odd years later, I still find rowing to be fun and always seek the machines out when I go to the gym. So naturally, when the opportunity presented itself for me to have one in my very own home to try out, I seized the chance… I have only ever used flywheel rowers with cabled handlebars, so the hydraulic bar is new to me and I cannot say that I love it. It feels a bit strange, but maybe with more time using it, I’ll grow to like it. The size of the machine suits me, but I’m not sure how a taller person might feel on it as I am only 5’3″. The progress monitor works, but it was not easy to attach and I’m not certain that it was on well enough, so I did remove it. The hydraulic resistance works well and I’m actually quite pleased with it. The seat leaves something to be desired, it is thickly padded, but that is not always the best, I’d actually prefer a less padded, more contoured seat. As for the assembly, it should probably be done with a second person, but I was able to do it on my own in about an hour with the tools provided. I would suggest using better ones to reduce the stress the provided ones will cause though. The instructions are not great, Ikea ones will seem like highly detailed manuals next to them, but with patience, you’ll get by. I think that this machine is pretty good for a simple piece of equipment that I can use in my home on days I can’t make it to the gym. It isn’t perfect, but it is good.

This is a functional budget exercise rowing machine. It doesn’t have much in the way of frills but it works well and definitely makes me work up a sweat. It’s a pretty simple machine, there’s a cushioned seat that you attached onto a rail, and it slides back and forth about 5 feet. The movement is smooth enough but I can feel some imperfections in the metal of the rail that cause minor bumps in the movement. Not a big deal and I stopped thinking about it after the first few minutes. The track itself is lubricated, and makes little noise during use, the only part that makes amuch of a sound is the seat when you reach the end of the track and it clacks into the stopper.
Now, the variable resistance is achieved solely through the resistance cables of which you perform the rowing motion by grabbing the cable handles and pushing back with your legs, pulling the cables back with your arms and back. This creates a nice compound movement that hits multiple muscle groups. It’s a good workout, a mix of strength and cardio. The included display is cheaply made and is definitely basic, but it will track your time and estimate your distance and calories burned. It’s a bit finicky to use and sometimes I still fumble trying to reset the timer back to zero.
Overall, the machine takes up about 5.5ft of space lengthwise. I’m 6′ taller and I do feel like I still get the maximum effectiveness without hitting the travel limit. It stores well, and the wheels at the base make moving it around pretty simple.
Overall, if you want a functional experience without all the modern extras for a good price, this will work.
