I got this a week ago and am totally sold on it as a way to increase my activities and burn calories when I wouldn’t otherwise be exercising.
The Cubii is small, discreet, has a smooth motion and is pretty much silent, which is a huge advantage in an office. You position it under your desk and it’s right there at your feet so it almost obliges you to use it when you sit at your desk (unlike home fitness equipment that sits forlornly in a corner waiting to be used). The motion feels very natural, and being elliptical you don’t have the problem of knees hitting the underside of your desk.
I have used it for four days and was able to pedal for 5-6 hours a day without feeling tired. It has eight resistance settings so you can spend time building up week by week.
The video shows the elliptical motion, while the chart image, from my Fitbit (with which it integrates), shows a typical day before Cubii (left) and using Cubii (right). You can see the difference in activity very clearly. This difference means a lot more calorie burn while sitting at my desk. In fact I’ve tracked calorie burn with an HRM/Fitdigits and it suggests I could be burning 4-5x more calories an hour with this compared with sitting. During the time I have been using it my work has not been disrupted. Phone calls, reading, typing etc all quite normal.
The app is good and I’m sure will have new features added. There is a global ranking and challenges to keep you motivated. I found it was quite easy to do 16 Cubii km a day to get into the global top-5 rankings.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this as it’s significantly increasing my activity time during the day. I mix Cubii with a 5km walk at lunchtime plus walks to and from the office, which is a good balance. It’s easy to be active for 5+ hours a day with this and you can’t say that about most fitness equipment, so I think it’s a very good investment compared to a spinning bike, rower etc that will take up precious space at home. With the Cubii you just put it under your desk, out of everyone’s way, and start pedalling.

I know a lot of people think this is going to help them exercise at work, but that isn’t what I bought my Cubii Pro for. I’ve had CFS/Fibro for 25 years. I was simply looking for something I could do while I was sitting to get the circulation flowing throughout my body. I bought the Pro version so I could use an app that syncs with my FitBit.
I have two very bad knees and sitting on the couch exercising with this machine hasn’t bothered them AT ALL. The first time I used it I was surprised that I really felt it in my inner thighs, but luckily they didn’t hurt the next day. Unfortunately, I had to stop using it after the first time as I’m exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 and using the machine even for 15 minutes made my temperature go up more than I cared for it to. I thought getting some exercise would help my body fight the virus, but I guess not. I look forward to using my Cubii Pro as soon as I get that issue straightened out because it’s VERY easy to use and as anyone with Fibro knows there is little you can do that doesn’t automatically set off your trigger points! In that regard, this seems like the perfect machine to use, at least for me.
I love the app – it shows real time exercise – how many cycles, calories burned, etc. as you’re doing the exercise. This helps you figure out what resistance you need to use to get the calories you want to burn as you’re doing it. When you’re done, you simply click the sync button and the exercise is immediately entered into your FitBit dashboard.
The machine itself was very easy to set up. You screw in 4 screws that attach the footpads to the base and you’re done. Word of caution though, don’t expect your grandma to be able to put this together by herself. This is a serious piece of exercise equipment and seems built to last so it’s heavy. Now heavy is a relative term. As a 60 year old who has had CFS/Fibro as long as I have and can’t take pharmaceutical medications for it my only pain prevention was to move as little as possible. This machine weighs from 25 to 30 pounds so getting it out of the box and moving it around to assemble took some effort. While it has a wonderful, well placed handle to move the item around while you’re not using it, if you misstep and the metal part of the machine hits you, it’s going to leave a nasty bruise. I use a crutch so my mobility isn’t the best. I have to be careful to make sure I’m in a secure position before I move the machine. It’s roughly 23 inches front to back and 18 inches side to side and while the handle is perfectly placed, it’s still going to be heavy for some people to lift.
I saw a lot of reviews that said people bought this as what they thought was an opportunity to do some type of cardio while they were at their desk. This is not at all what I bought it for. I bought it because I’m an older person who needs to keep her circulation flowing, a problem a lot of people have as they get older and less mobile. I’d recommend it for any older person to use for that purpose. Buy it for your aging parents who don’t move around a lot, put it somewhere out of the way that they can reach if they swivel their chair around (so they don’t have to move the machine itself) and let them go to town. It’s very easy on the body and perfect to use if they sit around watching TV all day. It’s also good for anyone who sits at the computer all night gaming with a group online. That way you don’t have to stop what everyone is doing to get up and walk around.
For me, the sturdy build of the machine, the bluetooth connection and the app made it worth the price of the machine, especially for someone with few exercise options. If you love your parents and want to keep them around and they don’t seem terribly mobile, this might be a really good option for them as they can do it while they’re sitting. As always, consult with their physicians first and make sure you set it up so they can access it without having to move it around (and it’s not anywhere they can trip over it). It’s definitely worth the effort.

I bought the Cubii as a way to stay moving at my desk job. I LOVE that the product is so quiet – so important in an open office! The Cubii is silent and discreet which is great. The design makes it so that only the lower half of your body is moving, so you’re not distracted at your desk nor are you distracting others. Most people don’t even know I’m pedaling unless they catch a glimpse of my legs! I’ve also used the Cubii while sitting on my couch watching TV and it’s great – the design is really comfortable to use. For reference, I’m about 5′ so most machines are really uncomfortable for me. My taller coworkers (6’+) have also tried it and found it to be comfortable under a desk as well.
The app works well, I haven’t had any issues as mentioned in other reviews (I did some thorough research before buying). It doesn’t need to be open at all times like some other reviews suggest (the step / calorie counter syncs the next time you open the app). It also syncs to my fitbit which is great to keep track of my workouts. I am a natural fidgeter, so the Cubii helps me focus that movement into pedaling and actually helps me focus better at work. I can tell when I’m really in the zone at work… I tend to be pedaling really hard! I burn about 100 calories an hour pedaling at a level 4 resistance – nothing crazy but way better than the 0 you’d burn just sitting. It adds up to 800 calories if you pedal consistently throughout the day. I average about 3 hours a day between meetings, etc so that’s about 300 calories. If you’re expecting a gym quality workout at the office, then this isn’t the right idea for you. The concept is to keep you moving throughout the day so you burn calories over a long period of time. That being said, you can crank up the resistance to the highest setting and probably break a sweat.
PROS: low profile, quiet, easy and comfortable to use for all heights, discreet, keeps you moving, helps with focus, works with a rolling chair.
CONS: Price (but your purchase supports a startup)
Overall: Definitely a great product! If you can swing the price tag, it’s well worth the investment.

I used to walk 2+ miles a day, work out twice a week, did plenty to stay thin and trim. Then my job changed so I had to drive, and my exercise regime dwindled to nothing. My weight and waistline reflected this over the course of several years. Given that the daily grind leaves limited time for exercise, I determined that the hours sat at a desk could be better utilised, rather than trying to shoehorn in workouts between cooking, cleaning, and having 5 minutes to myself each evening. Not always in the mood by that point nor have the energy.
So – under desk exercise equipment was researched and this was my pick, primary due to the promise of ‘whisper quiet’ and the convenience of app tracking.
I’m in my late 30’s, weighed 60.3kg, body fat at 31.6% (according to the bathroom scales). Swim once a week and have a reasonable diet. I made no other changes to my lifestyle, the only addition was using Cubii daily.
I take the measurements with a grain of salt but apparently I burned a little over 2000kcal a week. Daily use, resistance built up to setting 8.
After 1 week, my weight was down to 60.1kg, body fat to 30.9%. After 2 weeks, my weight was down to 59kg and body fat 30.2%. Down by 1.3kg and 1.4% fat in total so I’m pleased! I can see a positive trend and I’m happy to continue to further improve my health.
Will this help you lose weight? Yes, providing you put in the time and push the resistance. Some people have complained there’s no real difference – you will feel the difference after an hour! Five minutes here and there isn’t going to do much – put the time in if weight loss is your goal.
I would recommend this for office workers who can’t get away from their desk much (there’s only so many trips to the canteen and the loo you can do in a day). I’ve burned over 4000kcal the past 2 weeks that I wouldn’t have done otherwise, so it’s very time efficient.
I am also warmer whilst other colleagues are complaining about the cold.
Cons – weight. It’s a hefty chunk of equipment. Yes, it is technically portable, but that doesn’t translate to ‘lightweight’. Cubii are advertising a lighter version in the near future, so if you need something light to move easily, that version might be better for you than this one.
Also the shiny letters of the logo peeled off extremely quickly – gives the impression of cheap and nasty. They’re not necessary and just detract from the equipment itself.
App’s a little glitchy but works well enough to track and that’s all I really need it for. You just have to ensure you manually update the resistance in the app otherwise it will skew the results.
Pros – it is quiet as advertised and it’s working well for me thus far. It can help you lose weight if that’s your goal.
