Right from the box I could tell that this was designed by someone who liked things that were easily assembled. This was so easy to assemble. For the first time, I didn’t have to take anything apart to put it back together again the right way (and that’s an astounding achievement for me!).
The stepper is well-made and doesn’t bend or flex in ways that would make you think it’s going to not last too long. The footrests are wide enough for my feet (Men’s, 10 ½ extra wide) and they have a small amount of extra side-to-side room. The front to back of the footrests is fine.
I have found that the handle part of the vertical bar does wobble a bit side-to-side as I step. That’s because of how the top bar slides into the bottom bar and is locked into place with a round knob type screw. I’ve handled that by jamming a broken popsicle into the joint between the two vertical bars. Problem solved.
There is an electronic display that allows you to record the time, distance, etc. that you are stepping. There is a set of paper directions, but while they are clear enough there’s not much too them (not that you need them to use it). I really like the twisting motion of the steps. I wasn’t sure if I would like it at first, but I had read that it was a useful feature, so I decided to give it a try. It really involves so much more than just your stepping up muscles! I can tell that it works on my lower back side-to-side flexibility.
The next thing I’m going to talk about is something I don’t really care for, but I’ve found out that there’s a reason for it. My only real difficulty with this stepper/twister is that the steps take way too long to do. In one minute I can complete 58 steps. There’s no way to go faster as I’m putting my whole weight on the steps. That’s like climbing the stairs one step per second. That’s more like plodding than anything. I was hoping to be able to make a run for it by “stepping” up the “stairs,” and get an aerobic workout. So far it works on my legs (some), but I don’t work up anything resembling a sweat or heavy breathing. I contacted the seller, and they told me that this slowness was on purpose, the purpose being that the slowness combined with the twist of the stepper really targets the lower body muscles more than a faster step would. They recommended that if I find the resistance too high during a workout that I move my feet further back on the footpad which would increase the leverage I (and you) would exert on the footpad. There’s a good lesson here. Just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean that it isn’t good for me!
I still wish that there was a way to adjust the speed of the steps!

My boyfriend put it together for me he said he it was pretty simple and it’s very sturdy. I’ve only used it twice so far for 20 minutes but I can feel the burn and definitely can see myself getting results with this workout machine.

This was so easy to put together and it does not take up a lot of space and isn’t super heavy either. I love it!

FLYBIRD Stepper for Exercises, Stair Stepper with Handlebar, Twist Stepper for Leg Workout, 330LB Weight Capacity, Low-Impact Home Cardio Machine Suitable for Beginners Gray:
I love this stepper. The twist step feature makes it so much easier on my feet/ legs, hips joints to move easily and actually be able to activate many muscles and work them out. I even dance on this thing which is great. I get a fantastic workout and love it. Great quality, stable, easy to use, great for smaller spaces.

Decent exercise machine

Reviewing FLYBIRD Stepper for Exercises, I needed something that wasn’t too big and gaudy looking for those times I am watching TV in the living room and do not wish to go to the gym or to the basement (where we have our home gym set up). This is lightweight and easy to maneuver, so I put it up against the wall and when I’m ready to watch TV, I just slide it out and hop on. You cannot adjust the tension, but it has a decent level of tension, so it’s not a must anyway.
Obviously, this only works one muscle group, so this isn’t something you should do every day, or else your leg muscles will get used to it and you will not get any gains, but if you use this to fill in otherwise sedentary time, or you use it get your heart rate up, it is great. You can use it to build leg strength, but again, it must be done in conjunction with other workouts, so your legs don’t get used to it.
Assembly was easy and it has a small footprint. It only weighs around 30 lbs, so is easy to put up or take out. It does not fold up, but again, since the footprint is small, it is easy to deal with.

A little simple assembly is required. The necessary tools are included. I suggest skipping to step 2 before step 1. There’s a cable in the handlebars that needs to be snaked down both segments of the upright. That cable has spent its short life tied up in a tight bundle and isn’t wild about unfurling in the tube. It’s much easier to get it down one segment at a time. Something about a foot long with a hook may still be necessary… I used a plastic drain snake of all things.
I found it gave a pleasant, gentle workout but the twisting motion does work muscles more than you’d expect. Resistance/speed is fixed and a bit on the slow side for my liking. Fairly quiet. The adjustable handles do wobble a bit and are best suited to those under six feet, but adequate for those of us that are a little taller.
Customer Review –
Ok, I’ll admit it…… When I ordered this, I mostly ordered it for my 70 year old mother. Handle bar uprights on a mini stair stepper?! That’s gotta be a silly sales gimmick, right?!?
I WAS WRONG!! Handlebar uprights on a mini at-home stair stepper (or any stair stepper for that matter) are GENIUS!!! Fantastic idea! I’d much rather have handlebar uprights than silly bungee cords for working out my arms. WAY more stability using the handlebar upright. Not only keeps you balanced, but it also keeps your core tight and your body standing exactly as it should be… UPRIGHT!
Foot pads move in an a sort of side-to-side skiing style motion versus the traditional straight up & down. Actually really do like this type of stair stepper variation. Adds a new dimension to the exercise that I have’t experienced before.
Great addition to the home fitness arena!! Looking much more forward to tossing on some mindless TV and stepping away the ice cream from last night. Enjoy!!
