I wanted a recumbent eliptical after using one at the gym. Gym quality recumbents run a few thousand dollars. That seemed like overkill. I found this one on Amazon along with another to compare to. This one had the best reviews and I thought it would fit in the space I had allotted for it. The dimensions indicated it would also fit assembled through a standard bedroom door of 30″. It arrived in front of my garage and was tough to slide into the house. But is wasn’t too far and the unopened box fit through each door with a little to spare. Before opening the box I watched a youtube video which relieved some of my concerns. One suggestion was very helpful “don’t take it out of the box, take the box away from it.” That made good sense and after taking all the loose parts out and separating them. It left cutting the box away and sliding the base out of the box. Assembly by myself, took about two hours. Written instructions were good. Parts marked easily. Teeter also has more video’s though I finished not needing them. A few bolts were a little hard to get started. But eventual successs. Attaching the seat to the seat back had an issue because there are two choice based on one’s comfort. I guessed wrong (it is better for with more space between the seat and back) so after it was all together and I sat on it, I had to undo the seat & back from the frame and redo the seat). The only other glitch on assembly was in seating the bar with electronics into the frame. Here there was nearly a half inch of space with the bar being wider than the frame receivers. It took some straining and manipulating but I succeeded in putting them together. It works fine.
Once assembled it wasn’t too hard using the wheels to get it into the room where it was to go. It is not that easy to pick up (110 lbs) and raise high enough for the wheels to work and then it also tends to roll faster. But success. After spending some time trying it out I was pretty satisfied. When using the pedals only without arms one can see it has smooth operation, WIth arms one needs to get a smooth cadence so it doesn’t feel a little too jerky. I was glad I bought the gel seat pad with it since it is more comfortable. The seat adjustments are fair. Sometimes it seems too far away and at other too close. Placing your feet higher or lower on the pedals also makes a difference. I find tt works better if one is leaning back into the seatback when riding, sitting up only increases loss of smoothness. The tension adjustment knob takes some getting used to since it is not easily seen while seated. You end up using it by feel. It works alright. The handles have a couple of positions, these are not my favorite but again work adequately and I expect to get more used to these. The electronics are basic (time, distance and rpm) it reminded me of an eliptical I had in 2002. So actually it is enough for me. Ultimately, I am satisfied with the qualtity and value for this one at around $900. There is a cheaper one by Teeter I never tried. You can’t compare this one to those at the gym that are $2500 to over $4000. Also they weigh over twice as much as this one. Try moving that. I think it will get good use.

This is a very well built trainer. It’s very quiet and operates smoothly. If you don’t want to spend $6000 for a NuStep this is a very excellent alternative for a price well worth the money. Assembly is not difficult but will take 1-2 hours. Instructions are very clear and all the hardware is individually bagged and numbered. Ships directly from the factory and is very well packaged.

I wanted to use this machine for a couple weeks before reviewing it to see if any quirks or bugs would show up, but I have to say I’m enormously pleased! Honestly, I wish I’d gotten this thing years ago.
I decided to spring for the more expensive model in favor of a more comfortable seat, and some other perks. I figured that a workout machine should be solid and well-made, and so I shouldn’t skimp on it. I’m glad I went for it. First of all, the workout is FANTASTIC. I can work up a major sweat and burn a ton of calories in a short time with absolutely no pain. It also doesn’t get as tedious as some workouts can. You can switch it up by turning the handles, or arms only, or legs only. The tension adjustment is right by the seat, so it’s easy to change without having to move.
The machine itself is indeed solid and well-made. The assembly has you putting multiple bolts with locking washers at every joint. There’s no rattling or wobbling. The handles and front bar are coated with a comfortable non-slip rubber. The seat and seat back are thick and comfortable. The foot pedals are big enough to allow for any size foot in any position, and the textured plastic keeps your feet in place. The construction is heavy metal tubing that the manufacturer didn’t skimp on, but the footprint of the thing is small, so it fits nicely in our little workout room. There’s no reason this thing won’t last for decades.
Several reviews on this product complained about the assembly. Baloney! The directions were quite clear, and each step gives you the hardware in a bag labeled for that step. There wasn’t much to it, and the tool they give you works for everything.
The computer console is very simple, but sufficient. It cycles through time, calories, distance, and speed. There’s a single button to select the mode, or press and hold to reset at the beginning of the workout. There’s also a convenient place to rest a tablet or phone for watching or listening to something while you sweat.
It does take some trial and error to find the right positions for the seat and handles. The one very minor complaint I have is that the seat could be a little more adjustable. The mechanism has locking points that are widely spaced and move the seat either up and away from the pedals, or down and toward the pedals. Those locking points could be closer together, and it would be nice if there was a feature that allowed you to slide the seat forward or back horizontally as well.
But even with that very minor comment, it was possible for me to find an adjustment that works well for me. Between the adjustments of the seat, the handles, and where my feet rest on the pedals I was able to find the right combination to be comfortable. Now I just sit down and go.
It’s an awesome machine. I highly recommend it!!

We debated in the FreeStep for months and finally decided to buy it. We couldn’t be happier! It’s a great all over body workout and we feel so good after we’ve worked out. We’ve had other cardio machines and weren’t happy with them, but we couldn’t be happier with our FreeStep. We want to workout and we enjoy our workouts which is half the battle! Highly recommended!

We purchased the Teeter machine for my wife who is 5.0 feet tall. Due to the excessively long stride of this machine she could not get it to function as designed. The Teeter uses a wheel connected to the pedals for resistance. If you are too short the wheel will overcenter and lock potentially causing injury. My wife was injured. There is nothing in the seller or manufacturers advertisement to describe minimum stride length or minimum user height or leg length. Unfortunately the reason we purchased the Teeter was because it was the only one that did not list a minimum height so we thought it would be adjustable. Plus all of the reviews said it was a good machine. All other manufacturers that we found while doing our research list the minimum height or leg length. We contacted the Seller and asked for help getting it to work for her but they never responded.

I have only enthusiastic praise for this recumbent bike — well made, and of great quality as well as easy to assemble from the enclosed well-written instructions and clear artistic drawings (my husband thanks you Teeter!!). The bike makes this 76 year old feel “almost young again!!!” It is so quiet and my activity on the bike actually feels effortless. I had been using a treadmill and not getting adequate results for my arms and core. This bike is exactly what I was looking for in terms of “total body” exercise and for the ease of motion and physical exertion. Believe me, I could tell the difference in my muscle tone and energy level for the first time after exercising for only 30-35 minutes and that was without subsequent soreness or pain. I might add that this bike has adjustments that will benefit anyone of any age and satisfactorily allow the user to achieve his or her level of conditioning.
