The machine is very quiet and already assembled. You will just need to place the seat on it and fill with water. It would be helpful if the screen has a backlight. It is hard to read sometimes based on the lighting in the room. If you looking to use this machine for building a lot of strength I would not suggest it. It is good for cardio and building lean muscle. The resistance is not very high. However if you rowing for 30 mins it becomes more difficult as your muscles tire. I feel like this is a great machine for females looking for a good cardio option without bulking up. I would not recommend for a male looking to increase muscle mass.

Wow, completely blown away by this fantastic rower!! Was ready for potential compromises but completely impressed by how amazing this rower is! Comes 99% assembled…just took 2 minutes to hex the comfy seat on, pop included batteries in the digital spec screen and add water…started my first rowing workout in about 20 mins, incredible! The included water pump worked great (you will need a bucket). I’ve been on the pro rowers at the gym and have used my friend’s concept2 rower and this absolutely rivals the ultra smoothness of those at a fraction of the cost. The sound of the water was also very calming if you don’t have headphones/music playing…the digital workout screen synced with my phone via Bluetooth with no issues and I was rowing on rivers all over the world in minutes thanks to the included Kinomap trial ( you can do it at your own pace or compete with other live rowers, a ton of fun options!)
I got the 380 model (made for heavier/taller folks..I’m 6’) but if you are shorter the 280/280pro would be perfect for you. Also the super convenient folding/unfolding option is equally super easy and butter smooth; perfect for those of us living in apts or need the space!
Truly could not be happier, highly highly recommended!

Surprisingly good quality of construction and appearance, especially considering that it costs $600 (CDN), and a similar WaterRower brand machine starts at $1550 (CDN) and goes up from there. Very easy to construct (took me less than half an hour, including filling the tank). Folds and stores very easily. I was worried it would be too short (I’m 6’1″ or 185cm), but the length is just fine, I never strike the back of the machine.
Only concern would be if you’re an advanced rower, or in exceptionally good fitness. I filled the tank to the max resistance (6/6), and it’s a good workout (I’m in decent health/fitness). As a smaller machine than a WaterRower, it also has a smaller tank/lower resistance level, so if you’re an elite athlete, you might find this machine doesn’t provide enough of a workout. However, the value compared to the top-level machines is absolutely amazing, so if you’re novice-to-intermediate, I would highly recommend.

Machine arrived on time, well packed, easy to assemble, with spare parts, tested it a few times already, nicely made, nice wood, functional, got no problems with feet straps, it is necessary to adjust them once or twice during workout but in my experience it is always the case, like the sound of water while rowing, display works nicely, I am very happy with this purchase

The good:
Solid machine with great quality! Super compact and comes fully assembled minus sliding on the seat.
I’m enjoying this machine and the customer service for replacement parts has been fantastic!
I use this for 45min – 1 hour long zone 1-2 cardio sessions when I don’t feel like running and it’s been great for that!
My wife out of nowhere has fallen in love with the machine. The resistance it provides is good for her as a beginner.
It’s extremely satisfying to hear the water moving when you row but it’s very quiet and does not bother anyone even in the same room when you are on it. I can easily be on a zoom call for work while my wife is using it and it can’t be heard.
The bad:
I’m active and a gym rat. The resistance on this machine even at the highest level is fairly light so advanced rowers should look for something else.
The lower guide wheel on the seat broke within 2 weeks of use and now the seat does not move properly… otherwise the unit is nice but the seat wheels are not durable at all! Make sure before you fold the unit that the seat is at the end of the rower so it doesn’t slam the seat wheels into the stoppers that may cause premature damage.
Taller rowers will likely hit the rear stoppers I’m 5’7” and get fairly close to them (30” inseam).
Update:
Joroto customer service responded to my email within 24 hrs and is sending replacements. I will be keeping the rower as it is a nice machine and these wheels are cheap and easy to replace even once out of warranty. The wheels arrived and I was able to swap them out easily within 5 min!

This rower is made of well finished, solid wood. The plastic and metal bits seem well made and assembled. The handle is a good size and nicely padded and allows good reach. Good, adjustable footplates and straps, very similar to Concept2 plates. Water tank didn’t leak and seems well made. The line pulls and returns smoothly. It folds easily and doesn’t take up much space when folded.
The resistance at max recommended water level seems a bit low to me, but I am not an experienced rower. Filling to the max line takes about 2.75 gallons, which may be why the resistance seems low as I notice other machines take up to 5 gallons.
The machine is substantial, but not too heavy. About 75lbs when filled with water. This is a benefit for moving the unit, but does mean it can shift on the floor depending on how heavy the user is, how vigorously they move, and the type of floor surface. This can be addressed with a floor mat if needed. The wheels are positioned so it is great for folding, but a bit awkward for rolling it around once folded. There is a narrow window you need to tilt it to in order to roll it around smoothly. I am considering replacing the rubber stops that it rests on when folded with caster wheels to make it easier to move.
It comes very near fully assembled. The entire assembly process is basically two steps: Put the seat on the rails and then install the ends tops with two bolts ( hint: The angled end faces the seat). Then you put in the supplied batteries and add water and you are done. It comes with an included water pump. It’s very cheap but works. TIP: The bellow part screws into the body, mine leaked a little until I twisted it down to tighten the connection. The fill hole is also easy to access with a funnel if you prefer to do that.
It’s likely too small for taller people. I have a 30in inseam and at full extension the seat comes within an inch or two from the end stop. I think a 34” inseam person would have trouble, let alone the claimed 39. It also has some of the drawbacks inherent in this type of rower design: Narrow footplates, low seated position, and resistance cannot be adjusted easily.
Instructions are not great. They are fairly well written but lacking in information. For example, it doesn’t say how much water you’ll need or the kind of water to use. There is no mention of the included chlorine tablets at all, how to use them or how/what to buy when they run out.
The manual gives some basic info about the monitor, but literally the only line about the included heart rate chest strap is in the description of the “Pulse” section of the monitor that says to “prepare and wear the included chest strap monitor.” and then a disclaimer that it is not a medical device. There are no instructions on how to wear the strap, and the strap itself is almost entirely unmarked, which makes looking for instructions online difficult. So far I’ve found the strap to be very unreliable, perhaps because I am not using it properly.
The monitor itself is basic. It gives the basic info you need, strokes, time, distance, 500 splits. I think you can set time, distance, stroke goals as well but haven’t played with it much. It is a bit clunky to use and will take some time to figure out, but it also has bluetooth connectivity so you can avoid using it and instead use fitness apps.
The instructions also tell how to connect the monitor to the Kinomap app and that worked well. Unfortunately this is a subscription service and there is no information on using the monitor with any other app or service. The marketing material on amazon says it is an FTMS compatible system so that may help in finding other apps that work.
The monitor itself acts as a phone holder (and the device display shuts off when paired with an app, so you lose nothing by covering it). But the location makes it unsuitable for holding larger devices like a tablet. This is a tradeoff for making it more compact when folded.
Overall I am very happy with this purchase. I ordered it when there were no reviews on the site and I could find almost nothing about the model online. But I have a Joroto spin bike that is well made and the specs seemed good so I took a chance. It also helped that I ordered it around black friday and there was a $150 off coupon on the site so my final price was only three hundred dollars.
