After a long period of feeling exhausted all the time, I began to suspect that I was suffering from sleep apnea. This pulse oximeter is not cheap, but it is highly accurate and uses the same advanced technology as hospital-grade monitoring systems. After recording my night-time hypoxia and printing out the data for my doctor, he agreed that I needed a full sleep study. The study confirmed severe sleep apnea, and resulted in effective treatment for my condition. It also gave me peace of mind that the treatment was in fact effective in eliminating my night-time hypoxia. This device is not cheap, but it is worth every penny if you need to monitor your blood oxygen levels.

I have lung cancer and need oxygen on occasion. I have bought so many oximeters to try and monitor, but when put up against the ones at the doctor’s office they were always off by quite a bit. Also old ones would take FOREVER to figure out my oxygen level. Not something you want to wait on when your struggling to breathe. Between the fast response, and the app to track and explain other values this is a great investment to track my levels. Plus when double checked at the doctor’s office, Massimo is correct everytime. I also love the continuous monitoring aspect. I would highly recommend, but the cost is the only downside. I understand quality cost money, but health equipment like this is hard to find, at least ones that actually work.

This Has provided the greatest peace of mind. I recently had lung surgery and I use this during the recovery to ensure me that all was fine. It works like a charm. I use it every day and the results were given quickly. The only thing I would say is that if you do the measurement do not hold the device with your other hand. It appears to mess with the results. Put your finger where indicated and let it hang in the air by itself. Great quality

It took a long time to find this oximeter. I wanted a good one. This one is perfect for me. Works as advertised, shows also breathing rate. Can see everything on the display or on iPhone, using “Masimo Personal Health” app. App works fine. I am very satisfied 🙂
Tried “Masimo Professional Health” app (which is made for Rx model), but it would not connect. So, it is not Rx model, but it looks like all the features are the same. Probably app is the main difference.

batteries leaked inside their plastic wrap – I had fresh AAAs at home, but got a lot of battery gunk and dissolved ink on my hands unwrapping them

Purchased here. This unit is supposed to be more accurate than most of the others and in comparison with hospital and medical office versions, it apparently is. It works well, but it is slow because of the extra information and verification it provides.
I have seen the Masimo brand on larger machines in two hospitals and I have pulled out the MightySat and compared the readings. However various stationary and mobile models in the hospital created confusion and disconnects – Masimo must train professionals how to use their units. They may have good math and science behind their products, but the physical quality of the products should be better.
The Masimo MightySat provided matching reading with larger units so it should be trustworthy. The use and instructions should be much better and the iOS App needs a lot of work with better reporting available. It is confusing and sometimes hard to make unit settle down and provide a good reading.
This is not a toy – it should be used by people who need to know their peripheral SO2 readings – it would be better if the unit could quietly transmit its readings to the APP and even better if a sleeping probe could be attached at night time with a low oxygen alarm warning.
Not a lot to ask for $300 – about 10 times the price of others.

I bought this for my elderly mom while she’s recovering from knee replacement surgery. She LOVES IT and said that it makes her feel more secure to carry this around in her belt pack. This gives her an idea of the “patterns” of 3 of the important vital signs (pulse, oxygen, respiration rate) while she’s resting and during exercise. Then she knows if something is out-of-whack even if she otherwise feels fine.
The readings show up a few seconds after clamping it onto the finger and are very consistent. The display shows a cute little bar that jumps with each pulse. The iPhone app is quick & easy to connect with Bluetooth and has a beautiful moving graph that tracks history like a fancy medical monitor. I was able to show her how to use this without even reading any of the manual. A quick tap on the menu button flips the screen 90 degrees (one of four orientations).
There is only one product improvement I would suggest if the manufacturer is reading this.. I’d like to be able to use Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA batteries rather than regular alkaline because they last much longer (according to the manual it has to be regular alkaline).
I only trust Masimo pulse oximeters for accuracy; the other copycats are inaccurate junk. At first I wasn’t sure if I should spend so much on a small gadget, but looking back at the decision, I am very happy I made the purchase. This is one of my favorite products of the year. Everyone in our family wants to “borrow” it from my mom because we are all curious of our fitness parameters.

I love my Masimo, in my opinion it is worth the “premium price”. I own several oximeters and this one has the most consistent accuracy when the oxygenation level is compared against full sized hospital units, or against other fingertip units.
I also appreciate that it shows the respiration rate (RRp). For me this extra feature was a big deal, because it helped to treat a condition.
