Yesterday I walked for a hour. Pedometer in my front trousers pocket. It recorded nothing, nada, zip, zero. It regularly undercounts; I counted my steps and compared. It’s no better than the cheaper one I returned for the same reason.

I bought this Omron Pedometer to replace a previous one that I have had for 14 years and just recently accidently forgot to remove from my pocket and ran it through the washing machine. While I was waiting for this new one to be delivered I took the battery out of the old one and let it sit on a shelf for a week and out of curiosity put a new battery in it after I thought it might have dried out. To my surprise the old one is working again. I decided not to send this new one back so that I can give it as a gift to someone.

Well, it’s not supposed to be machine washable, but mine has been machine washed twice and has come back both times and working great! If you do this by accident, remove the battery from the unit and dry the inside compartment. The first time, more water got in so it took about 3 days of standing it upright on a drying mat with the battery out to dry, but only 1 day this time. I put the battery back in, reset the settings I made when it was new, but once done, it was like a Timex – took a lickin’ and kept on tickin’ (you whipper snappers won’t get that part). I would recommend it for that alone cause as careful as I try to be, I know I will likely do this again, but the functions seem to work fine for me as well.

Worked perfectly straight out of the box. Very well organised – resets itself every midnight. Nothing to do except remember to put it on. Very handy for oldies.

This is a really simple but fairly accurate piece of equipment for recording your steps and distance travelled. As long us you measure your stride properly, it will reflect fairly accurately how many miles you have walked. I know because I tested it on a 6 mile walk in the Lake District, which has each mile post marked, and my pedometer exactly recorded the distance.

These are great devices for measuring walking activity. Love the aerobic steps feature and the accuracy of this device. Only gripe is OMRON used to include an item that clipped to clothing and held the pedometer. Not so anymore.

Works great! I had a battery last 15 months with daily use. I usually wear it all day to not miss a step. Accuracy is good if you get your stride length correct. Better than GPS apps if they don’t measure steps and elevation changes. Also unlike previous models when you change a battery, you don’t have to reenter your data (height, weight, stride and the time).

Small and cute but not very accurate. I have purchased Omron products in the past and liked them. They make several styles of pedometers but all of the others are a bit large for fitting in a pocket comfortably. So I choose this one but it is not accurate. Will undercount your steps. I suspect at least by a few hundred in a day. And alas, even though the company is based in Japan, the products are actually made in China.
