I got this because my Tailbone chafes. So I started using this and Chamois Butt’r (typically for bikers)
I experienced chafing at the following distances and conditions:
1) ~2.5km (No cushion, No Butt’r)
2) ~4km (Cushion, No Butt’r)
3) Never (Cushion, Butt’r)
Using option 3, I could even row with chafe burns and it did not prevent them from healing.
Butt’r is really what prevents the chafing I think, but the seat makes things so much more comfortable by taking pressure off of pressure points and I don’t row without it ever.
It doesn’t slide on the seat and still shows no signs of wear after ~500km on it.

I bought this for my Aviron rower after I started getting an abrasion on my tailbone from the seat. Ouch! I thought of getting their $99 Cloud seat upgrade but decided to try a less costly alternative first. I bought another cushion first but it was too thick and threw off my form, causing a sore lumbar spine. I was skeptical that a 1/2″ cushion would make much of a difference in terms of comfort, but this thing is a game changer! It stays perfectly in place and makes rowing so much more enjoyable. It is small and does not fit the Aviron seat exactly, but if you place it on the front end of the seat, it does its job. Highly recommended!

At first when I got it I thought I was not so good because it was like a cushion that just sits there instead of something that stays on.

One of things I always disliked about my Concept 2 rower was the hard plastic seat. It made spending extended periods of time rowing very uncomfortable, even as much as I enjoyed the rowing. This gel seat is the perfect addition to the Concept 2 rower! The size is perfect for the seat, comfortable but not too thick as to cause your butt to scoot on the seat, and a good rubberized bottom to keep the seat in place. This was a great find and purchase!
