well made and not hard to assemble. not unbreakable so careful with it.

Catch position is the closest to the drum and you’re supposed to lean forward (~1 o’clock angle) and extend your arms. On Stamina DT Pro it’s impossible, we keep bumping our arms against the drum. Three people tried the machine and had the same problem. We used to row in a gym so it’s easy to compare this rower to other machines. I don’t know what to say, it’s a very very nicely built rower, easy to assemble, and made of quality parts. But its foot pedals are just too close to the drum and there’s no way to adjust that.
Chest strap is included, which is great. But the computer doesn’t show averages for strokes per minute or heart rate once the exercise is over, only point-in-time numbers during the exercise.
The machine is really quiet. We were amused by the little rowing person figure that moves across the screen showing every stroke. Too bad we’re returning it.

The listing states that it has a “Metal rowing chain”. This is simply not true. It is a synthetic material ribbon from the hamlet to the rower. The rower is otherwise fine.

The quietest rowing machine I have ever used. My wife and I utilize it after our 1 year old goes to sleep and it isn’t a nuisance in the least. Better yet, you can still hear the TV if that’s what you prefer.
I would love to give it a 5-Star rating but I do have a few qualms. First, the plastic guard on the handle surrounding the nylon tether (instead of a chain, like on the Concept machines) is actually two pieces and they will separate as you use the machine, and if you row hard enough you can snap them. After the second day of use I had to use black duct tape to keep them together and prevent the plastic from completing breaking apart. Second, the bolts connecting the feet tend to come loose and have to be re-tightened (more of a minor issue, but an issue nonetheless). Finally, you will not see your 250m time splits nor will you be able to judge your distance in metric units—it will all be in miles, wattage, and rows per minute.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase regardless of the minor nuances. It is definitely a great machine for any home gym.
**UPDATE 10JAN18** Contacted Stamina about the plastic housing issues and they considered it a defective part, immediately sent me a new one. Excellent customer service. Changed from 4 stars to 5. Still love this machine—smoothest rower you’ll find for the price!
**UPDATE 12MAR19** After a full year of use, this rower continues to perform like it did the first day of purchase. I never replaced the plastic housing as the black duct tape does an excellent job, but some may not like that. The resistance from the rower is still decent but I would compare it to the 8 setting on a Concept2 (out of 10). This may not be the rower you’re looking for to add to a gym collection (due to the limited resistance), but it is the absolute best for use indoors or when not wanting to annoy your entire family with the sound of rushing air. Still highly recommended!

Relatively straight forward assembly, which took just over 30 minutes. This is an amazingly well built machine. Every piece appears to be built with quality and endurance in mind. The machine is super quiet and super smooth, with an easy to read, and operate, display directly in front of me while rowing. If you have not watched their product video, do so. There was not one thing in that video that misrepresented this rowing machine. I am glad that I bought this machine and am already feeling the burn in my muscles!

Very pleased. I got exactly what I hoped to receive. I kind of figured for the price there might be some issues. After many days/hours of researching, videos, website reviews, website prices, I finally pulled the trigger on this rower. In the world of rowing machines almost every reviewer nods to a Concept2 rower. If not that brand then they tip their hats to a WaterRower brand. So why in the world did I end up choosing the Stamina DT Pro rowing machine? Well the price, my curiosity of dual resistance (magnetic/air), the Stamina brand makes descent products, and a few reviews on the web that stated the only draw back was the price of this model ($1200-$1300) compared to the Concept2 rower.
ON TO THE REVIEW!
Pros
1 – Interface computer has custom work outs and pre-built ones.
2 – Quiet. I could use this next to my sleeping baby.
3 – Resistance is top notch for a beginner or someone wants a more serious workout.
4 – Heart monitor. Many other models do not offer this feature.
5 – The seat is comfortable, no wobble, and the hand bar does not wear or bother my hands.
6 – Price. Originally a $1200 unit which it is not. Compared to the Concept2 (mid $900 range) rowing machine I feel this one stands on par with it. Concept2 is more durable and can take abuse with a tad better resistance. In my mind for home use save yourself a few hundred dollars and get the Stamina at a reasonable price ($600-700).
7 – Build quality. This is a pro and a con. The steel is good quality and the seat slides smooth, great wheels.
8 – I found it easy to assemble. It took me 45 minutes to put it all together.
Pro/Con
1 – The resistance is dual magnetic and air. Many reviewers state that magnetic rowers do not give individuals a true rowing experience. I enjoyed the function of dual resistance. As a rowing feel I think the reviewers are right about magnetic. Yet using this to work out I get the sensation that the machine is covering all it’s bases and helping me get a better workout.
Cons
1 – The feet straps. Very cheaply made. It is just Velcro and will wear over time. I never feel like my feet are strapped in fully. I have to tightly it real well or I will stop during my work out to fix it.
2 – The welding is done okay. I noticed that if this unit is abused it might last 10+ yrs at best. It might not be a life time machine.
3 – The rowing strap is not a chain but good quality. It might last a year if I keep using this unit daily. The plastic piece at the center of the strap is poorly put together. It separates while rowing. It doesn’t affect my rowing. It’s just annoying.
4 – Not battery powered. I do not mind that it plugs into an outlet but other might.
5 – Storage. This unit is not compact. For me this is good and bad. On one hand it is a lower tier high quality build and meant to be used daily. So it is not a machine for the individual that wants to rower once a week and toss it in a closet. It is not light weight.
Overall I would purchase this again. I enjoy the fact that my wife and I can use this machine for different purposes. It is built well, priced right, has a great work out tracker and programs, super quiet, and comfortable. Well it’s comfortable besides the feet straps. In the end if this rower is priced between $550-650 I would say give this unit a go there is not many other units that could compete with the Stamina DT Pro in that price range.
