I love this machine! But, I decided to update my review to describe a problem and report the solution. The pulley wheels became damaged after a few months of use (the rubbery black material flaked off, see first two photos) and the machine became noisy. (It did still work, however). This is an issue that others have written about. I had several exchanges with the company and was told I had to buy the part (it was past warranty) but it was not available for many months, probably because of supply chain issues. That was fine, because the machine worked; it was just noisy. Today I received the new wheels and they are a different material! It’s a hard white plastic/nylon (see third photo) instead of the black rubber. They were easy to replace (with allen and socket wrenches) and now it is quiet again! I assume that Sunny changed the material because of the reports of the black wheels breaking down. I’m writing this now to let people know that, if their CardioClimber has this problem, it can be fixed. The wheels cost only $18 per set plus $10 shipping. Customer service was great, by the way.
Otherwise, here is my previous positive review. I do still love the machine. Our space is limited (a small alcove off the dining room) and it is perfect for that. It is more challenging than a regular elliptical because it has a climbing component (however, this does mean that the horizontal range of motion feels shorter than you might expect with an elliptical; it doesn’t bother me at all because I wanted the climbing feature). The 8 resistance settings are very useful…I often do intervals and ramp up the resistance, alternating with easier settings. It had a couple of minor defects (that didn’t prevent its use) and I was able to easily reach the company by phone and email and they are mailing parts, though shipping is delayed, probably due to demand during the pandemic. I recommended this to a friend and she loves it, too. Also, it feels very sturdy and well made and putting it together was quite easy. Directions are clear and all parts are packaged and well-labeled. It’s very quiet so I can listen to podcasts or music, or watch the iPad, while using it with no distraction at all. While it is heavy, which is necessary for it to be as sturdy as it is, the wheels are convenient for moving it when needed. By the way, the company has some very good exercise videos, for this machine and more generally.

I DON’T LIKE GYMS–EVEN BEFORE COVID. I WORK OUT IN MY GARAGE. I HAVE A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT FOR CARDIO/WARM UP, AND A BENCH PRESS WITH CAST IRON WEIGHTS AND A FEW DUMBELLS. IT’S VERY “OLD SCHOOL.” MY GARAGE IS NOT CLIMATE CONTROLLED–IT GETS HUMID IN THEIR IN THE SUMMERTIME–SO IT’S REALLY NOT WORTH IT TO ME TO INVEST IN AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT WILL PROBABLY START DEVELOPING RUST ISSUES IN A FEW YEARS. PLUS, IT’S BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT HOME MACHINES BREAK WITHIN A FEW YEARS REGARDLESS. SO THE WHEN MY SCHWINN 411 RECENTLY WENT UP I HAD TO GO ON AMAZON TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING NEW.
AFTER SEARCHING FOR A WEEK I FOUND THIS. YOU CAN’T BEAT THE PRICE: $250. YOU’RE GOING TO BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND SOMETHING DECENT FOR THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY. I’VE ONLY HAD IT THREE WEEKS OR SO, BUT I REALLY LIKE IT SO FAR.
IT WAS EASY TO PUT TOGETHER–JUST TIME-CONSUMING. IT TOOK ABOUT TWO HOURS, BUT IF I HAD TO DO IT AGAIN I’M SURE I COULD DO IT WITHIN 45 MINUTES. I’M NOT HANDY AT ALL, BUT THEY CAN’T MAKE IT ANY EASIER. THE BOLTS AND WASHERS COME IN A BUBBLE BACK WHERE EACH STEP IS LABELED. AND IT’S ONLY LIKE SIX STEPS. IT COMES WITH A HEXAGONAL TOOL THAT WORKS OKAY, BUT IF YOU HAVE A TOOL BOX WITH TOOLS I’M BETTING OTHER TOOLS WOULD BE FASTER AS SOME HAVE SUGGESTED. I DID IT BY MYSELF, BUT IF YOU HAVE A FRIEND OR LOVED ONE TO HELP OUT, THAT WOULD BE BETTER FOR SOME OF THE STEPS.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE REVIEWS COMPLAINING OF IT BREAKING AFTER A FEW USES. IT SEEMS STURDY AND WELL MADE TO ME. I CERTAINLY DON’T FEEL NERVOUS USING IT. THE MOTION IS A FUN MOTION. TO ME, IT’S A BOUNCY MOTION, LIKE BEING IN A BOUNCE HOUSE. IT’S BASICALLY A STEPPER. IT’S REALLY NOT LIKE AN ELLIPTICAL AT ALL. AND THAT’S FINE WITH ME. I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO KEEP MY BUTT LOOKING GOOD AND IF ANYTHING WILL DO IT, THIS WILL. EVEN AFTER ONE USE I COULD FEEL MY BUTT WAS TIGHTER. AND IT DOESN’T HURT MY KNEES. AS SOMEONE ELSE NOTED, IT’S YOUR QUADS THAT FEEL IT, BUT NOT THE ACTUAL KNEE JOINT.
IT’LL GET YOUR HEART RATE UP AND GIVE YOU A WORK OUT WITHOUT QUESTION. I’M BROKEN OUT IN A SWEAT BY MINUTE TEN. MY ONE COMPLAINT IS THAT I WISH IT HAD MORE TENSION OPTIONS. IT ONLY HAS EIGHT AND I FEEL THAT THE FIRST THREE ARE KINDA LIGHT. SO I’VE BEEN STARTING ON LEVEL 4 AND ENDING ON LEVEL 6. BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS FOR $250.
THERE IS AN UPGRADE AVAILABLE TO THIS THAT I WAS ALSO LOOKING AT, BUT ODDLY ENOUGH THE REVIEWS FOR THAT ONE WERE WORSE THAN THE ONE. AND AS I SAY, THIS ONE WAS CHEAPER, SO I WENT WITH THIS ONE. IT’S ONLY BEEN THREE WEEKS, BUT I CERTAINLY RECCOMMEND IT. I’M GOING TO TRY TO UPLOAD A SHORT VIDEO BECAUSE THEY TRULY ARE THE MOST HELPFUL REVIEWS.
HOPE THIS HELPS,
B.
P.S. DON’T BE A DUFUS AND PUT THE FOOT PADS ON BACKWARDS. THE LIP GOES TOWARDS THE FRONT–NOT THE BACK. OH- I DO WITH THE FOOT PADS WERE A LITTLE BIGGER AS WELL–I FEEL A LITTLE CONSTRAINED BY THEM. BUT AGAIN I WAS COMING OFF THE SCHWINN 411 WHICH HAD HUGE FOOT PADS.

Range of motion, assembly and maneuverability was great. Now after 5 weeks of using it it’s making a clunky noise and right arm and pedal kinda vibrate.

Love this little elliptical! The machine is completely silent and the computer is battery powered, so no cord to trip over. It is compact and fits nicely into a small corner. The assembly was extremely easy, and all the nuts and bolts were labeled and sorted by step in the instruction manual. Overall great purchase to get you moving during a lock down!

Muy fácil de armar, muy silencioso al momento de usarlo, me gustaría que los pedales estuvieran un poco más separados pero es bastante cómoda, se realiza un esfuerzo mayor que con la bicicleta elíptica

With our fitness club closed I found it difficult to get a good aerobic workout. Walking wasn’t sufficient, Knee replacements plus age (76) restricted running, and bicycling on our roads were unsafe or insufficient to get a sustained heart rate for 45 minutes, so went in search of an affordable elliptical. After reading the existing reviews, I took a chance on this one. Some of the reviews complained about the noise and/or difficulty of assembly. When it was delivered, it took me less than an hour to unpack and put it together so that is a non-issue. I do have a full work shop and lots of handy man experience, but that shouldn’t prevent anyone with a bit of savvy from quickly assembling. Secondly I found the unit to be well constructed, solid during use and gives me as much aerobic workout as I want, which is about 50 minutes 3 times a week. I did notice some clicking occasionally during use, but it’s minor and doesn’t happen much nor affect it’s use. I think if it were more bothersome, a bit of lubrication at the joints would solve the problem quickly and easily. The electronics took a bit of experience to get used to them, but reading the instructions carefully for setting time, etc. helped. I don’t use that feature, so didn’t set it, but I do use the heart rate monitor if I’m not wearing my Polar heart monitor and one thing I found is that you need to hold onto the sensors for a couple of minutes to get an accurate rating. Other features all work as advertised. Although the electronics appear a bit on the “cheap” side I think they are good quality for the price of the unit, which is why I gave it 5 stars. Higher end elliptical machines are several thousands of dollars.
