Luke Vanderpool –
My office finally approved for us to bring in a walking pad to the office to utlize with our standing desks. I did a fair bit of research and finally landed on the Urevo 2.5 HP Treadmill. I have been using it for several weeks now and I am quite pleased with my purchase. I spend 4 days/week walking for up to 4 hours a day and I am more productive and have more energy while working.
PROs:
1. It is a quiet machine, not silent 🙂 There is a slight whooshing sound with each step, but it is nothing too distracting and does not detract from working. I have been on several work calls while using and the sound is not noticiable at all. And if it is too loud, just walk slower!
2. It doesn’t automatically turn off when you step off. This may be a con for some, but if I have to step off to go to the printer, I like that I don’t disrupt the office with a bunch of beeps.
3. I like that it came with the track oil. The instructions were helpful in learning how to apply it.
4. Wide and long track pad. Some follks in my office purchased narrower ones and I have heard them express that they wished they had a bigger area to walk on.
CONS:
1. Mobility – This is a HEAVY unit. Yes, there are wheels on it, but they don’t help a lot. Don’t imagine that you can easily slide it in and out from underneath something ESPECIALLY horizontally. Additionally, while the handle folds down, the unit base does not, so it takes up space for storage purposes.
2. Adjusting the track pad – it was a bit nerve wracking figuring out the sweet spot with adjusting the track pad. I am glad they provided the hex key, but it took several turns to get it to the right spot.
3. Applying the track oil. It would be nice if they provided a brush that can reach all the way to the middle of the pad, so that there is an even amount across the bottom.
4. Remote/ Noise – You cannot silence the beeping. It would be great if there was a mute button on the remote or a way to deactivate the beeping that comes with each button push. I understand a beep happening with the machine is turned off and on, but with each speed change…come on.

I did a lot of research looking at different options for under desk treadmills when I wanted to be more active during my work day in the heart of winter here in Colorado. I have had this treadmill for a couple months now and here are my thoughts:
1. A lot quieter than expected. My office has a carpet floor with a plastic chair pad that this sits on when I’m using it. I have no issues with noise even when I crank it up to faster speeds
2. Lightweight. I tend to set this against the wall in the back of my office when I’m not using it, and as a 5’3 athletic-ish female, I have zero issues moving this. The wheel placement is fantastic, the overall product is light weight and I’m still surprised at how thin it actually is. Perfect for apartment/small space dwellers that want to slide it under a bed/couch.
3. It gets the job done. I’m not a runner, and I knew when purchasing this I would use it specifically for walking during my work day and if it gets used outside of that, then so be it. For me, it’s perfect. I tend to walk and work at around 1.7mph and find that speed perfect for me. However, you can crank it up to 3mph with the guard rail down to which is seriously hauling! I wasn’t looking for a traditional treadmill with incline, etc. so if that’s waht you’re looking for, then you’re barking up the wrong tree here.
4. GOD BLESS THE REMOTE. This remote works SO WELL. I have had zero issues with increasing/decreasing speed, having any distance issues, etc. I keep this little guy on my desk at all times but the place it stays on the treadmill itself is great, too.
Cons
1. I know there are other products out there that are a little more tech advanced. It would be awesome if this product had an app that you could keep track your week’s walking or have some sort of data storage built in.
2. The time screen. Probably the biggest gripe I have with this is so simple – the display screen for the time. It does not show seconds, only minutes. So if you’re like me and need to focus on a count down of some sort, you won’t get it here. It will only show you the minutes completed, no seconds that continue to count. A very small thing, but still annoying.
Overall, if you are looking for a solid product under $500 to keep you a little more active during the day (or after work) this is a great option. If you’re looking for a daily indoor run that’s simple and flat, it’s also a great option. I think it’s best to know what you’re actually looking for before purchasing, though. Super happy with this so far a few months in!
