Super happy with this machine. Very easy to move out of the way. Arrived with a broken plastic piece that didn’t affect use. I called and they had a replacement shipped to me within days. Could not be more pleased with it considering the cost.

Got a great deal during Prime week. Good sturdy mid-range rower. Highest resistance isn’t very challenging, but adequate for average every day home use.

Update: I took a star off because the nylon strap has started fraying after less than a year of use. I’m going to try to reinforce it, because I don’t relish the idea of it snapping while I’m using it.

So I bought this as a compromise. I wanted one of the super fancy instagram ad ones, but I haven’t rowed in years and wasn’t sure I would use it. I got this one from Amazon Warehouse for 1/10th the price of the advertised ones, and it was only missing two non-necessary screws.
I really like it, but there are three issues that should be noted. The reviews stating the magnet/force isn’t very strong are correct. I’ve been using it on 4 to up my aerobic capacity, but if you are in great shape and/or want this for sprints it’s probably not the best choice. It doesn’t have that tug you get on high-end models when you pull forcefully, it’s just a consistent force. So no extra oomph at the beginning of the stroke as it gets moving.
My other complaint is the positioning of the foot pedals in relation to where the base meets the handles isn’t sufficient – you can’t properly lean forward to get a good solid row in. You probably will not notice this if you’ve never been on a crew team, etc. But if you’re trying to improve your stroke, this isn’t the option for you. I also don’t think the display/tracking is the greatest, but again you can’t get a perfect stroke on this machine anyway, so it’s not really an issue.
If you’re a beginner or intermediate person who just wants a compact, affordable, easy to use, full body piece of equipment, this is great. It’s quiet, I love the mount for my ipad (it fits with the case and I’ve been rewatching Bridgerton, obviously). It’s stable and has adjustable feet – note that I use it on carpet so I can’t speak to it on hardwood, but I’d probably recommend some sort of mat under it just as a general policy. It’s very easy to stand upright and, although visually bulky when upright, takes up about 4 sqft of floor space this way, which makes it very easy to squeeze into even crowded living spaces. I think if you live somewhere with an unused vintage closet this would be a perfect home for it, just open the door and lay it down when you want to use it. Maybe put a poster on the wall in there or something so you don’t feel like you’re rowing into a closet.
So, as the headline says, small footprint and convenient, but not good for anyone with a lot of rowing experience. Tip for the beginners who should buy this: don’t just pull back with your legs and your arms. You’re not doing it right and you’ll miss a huge part of the benefit of this type of workout equipment. Watch some youtube videos to get the sequence right, but most of all, ~make sure you lean back as you pull your arms to your chest~. That’s how this machine works your core. Don’t cheat your abs and back out of their workout.

There was an item missing from my initial shipment. Shelly L from customer service quickly and efficiently took care of my issue and replacement part was shipped that same day. Overall very happy with this product. Good assembly instructions – I had it up and running in under an hour. Very sturdy.

Easy to assemble and looks great. Quiet and sturdy.
As others have mentioned, the resistance is not so significant even at its highest level. But I use this thing for 15-20 mins on level 4 or 5 and get a great workout.
Don’t be deterred by the resistance unless you’re in great shape and looking for significant strength.

It took me about an hour to get the entire thing out of the box and ready to use. The seat glides with ease like a hot knife through butter. I like that the resistance levels are on a knob instead of manual based on how hard you pull. It’s long, but it’s very short so it’s perfect to look like it doesn’t take up a whole lot of room. A perfect addition to my home gym.

Tightly packaged and arrived today. Assembly took about 1.5 hours. First ride ever on a rowing machine, I did 30 minutes starting at level 1 and working up to level 4 only. My heart was pounding, and I can see a great workout for the remaining 4 levels. Overall, I’m surprised at how comfortable and quiet the machine is. For those of you that have never rowed a boat before, the distance display is in meters and made perfect sense to me. It’s perfect for those that live in an apartment or don’t want to wake the spouse when working out.

I have used this rowing machine 5-6 times a week for over a year now, it’s decent for the price, but its not something I would ever buy again. Assembly was easy enough, but starting to use this thing it’s really inconsistent.
Full strokes will sometimes not register on the little display, multiple times a session even. Which means rowing by strokes or by distance is pretty unreliable. Its a minor inconvenience but when I use it so much, it gets rather annoying.
Furthermore, adjusting the resistance has no affect on your distance, and neither does the amount of force you use. Its the same thing for every stroke, 7 meters. Which makes absolutely no sense because a large person on the highest setting would be go so much further than a small person on the lowest setting. I understand this is a cheap machine, but come on can it at least work right?
Not to mention it has been leaking oil/grease ever since I set it up, and hasn’t stopped. Why??
Lastly, there are 2 bolts that hold on the foot supports, and 2 bolts below that stop them. Two of the included bolts have already broken off, and the second one that did was for the right side foot support. That bolt is broken off in the threaded hole, and when I tried to contact customer service, they would not do anything about it. So I have to engineer a solution (which is not most people). They said they wouldn’t be able to help at all.
So yeah, Xterra has crappy customer service, they make cheap products and don’t stand behind them. Buy at your own risk!

Excellent. Easy to assemble, quiet and the stand-up storage moves it out of the way in my condo. Smooth and even resistance. Seat rolls smoothly. Not the highest resistance, but that’s what it’s intended for. I use it with free rowing workouts on youtube and can burn 800 calories an hour that way. It’s getting heavy and regular use during covid as my gym is closed, but shows no signs of wear and tear. Recommended.

Love it! And fast shipping

Great rower! Easy to put together! I was a bit nervous because it was on the lower price end but it did not disappoint! The quality of the Rower is awesome!
Love that it can stand for storage when not using. The tension in great! My husband says he gets a very good workout out of it. And for myself after a just week I feel stronger! Small but mighty! It’s quiet too. I can easily watch a show while working out and it isn’t disruptive. Very happy with our purchase.

I love my XTERRA Fitness ERG160 Rower. It took about 45 minutes to 1 hour to put together. Directons were easy to understand. When l row it glides easily and the tension and row meters are easily to set. Great buy!!

This was very easy to assemble and packed REALLY well – like it took longer to unpack than it did to assemble. Incredibly quiet and really sturdy.
This may be the best money I have spent in a long time.
