Bought this because the wife wanted the water style. I’m 6’5 and was 350 when we got it. I had no trouble using it. I will say the magnetic resistance isn’t very strong so you have to find a good water level you like and the mag may just tweak it from there. The handle strap has twisted a couple of times and gotten stuck. It only seems to happen if I’m going fast and my form isn’t as good.

To start off, I’m the kind of person that will spend MONTHS researching product, reading reviews, watching videos, and comparing products before I make a purchase. I was in the market for a rower, but I couldn’t afford to spend more than a few hundred dollars on one. I started my search on the local used markets with little to no luck. Then I saw that there were a few options on Amazon and thus began my search.
In summary, most complains on magnetic resistance rowers were due to low resistance. Therefore, I decided to get either an air resistant or water resistant rower. That way, you have a physical resistance rather than simulated. The air resistant machines are good in the fact that they usually have a chain. Less prone to strap rips or misalignment. However, they tend to be louder so I decided to go with water rower.
After reading most reviews on this rower, I decided to give it a shot. Throughout the assembly process, I was constantly looking for reasons on why I should return it. There were a few times I thought I found good reasons (more on that later), but I was always proved wrong.
The machine is very sturdy and well built. The water resistance alone is enough to get you sweating (currently have water resistance at 4/6). I’m a fairly active guy and I was sweating after 5 minutes with no added magnetic resistance. The water sound is very soothing and fulfilling.
HEADS UP: There were a few times when I thought frame didn’t align well with screw holes. I was even thinking about returning it because I thought it was Mal manufactured. However, if you change the positioning or try to tighten bolts from another end, they eventually line up really well.
CON: The strap sits on a pulley system. Therefore, you can only row in a straight line. I tried to do side rows and it instantly came off track. It was an easy fix to get it back on track.

I thought I could use immersive water rowing apps,Echanfit advertises Bluetooth, what they fail to mention is they’re Bluetooth doesn’t connect with other apps, instead of paying $32.99/mo the Echanfit app only allows a lump sum payment of $700 a year! I would’ve spent more on a rower that connects to better apps like Water Rower,EXL etc, don’t believe me? Call Echanfit, they do mention a “fitlog” which is a black screen in android, maybe fitlog works w/IPhone&MacBook,check it out if you have IOS,the rower is great but Echanfit should mention that “the Bluetooth doesn’t connect with most rowing apps” don’t take my word for it call Echanfit support

I paid about $200 for this.
Assembly was detailed, but all the parts are organized well. Screws, hex wrenches and such came on a plastic sealed cardboard sheet, grouped according to the steps in the instruction manual. All info was correct, all parts were there.
It took an hour to assemble, but I took my time.
Caveats: The max fill line on the water tank is important to believe. I filled it a bit higher and the result was that when I stood it up for storage it leaked a bit. When I lowered the water level to the max fill line all was good.
I’ve used it twice. It feels the same as the one I use at my gym, and the magnetic/mechanical levels do make a difference, but I think you would have had to have done some other rowing previously to feel it.
The feel is solid, and it’s a great deal for the price.

this is the second water rower I have purchased in the past month, The first one (different brand) broke the hub from the water wheel after 15 minutes of use so I decided to go up in price slightly hoping for a little better quality. What I found was the water wheel design is the same as the original but seems to be a little more sturdy.
The main issue I have had thus far is the rear leg bending away from the frame. I am 6′ 5″ and have decent power in my legs, when I start really pushing, the rowing machine tends to lift a little in the front and pushes backward. This seems to have started to cause the rear leg to pull from the main beam, bending it down at the mounting hole. I fixed this by pounding it back and welding a small plate covering the main tube instead of the plastic cap.
The second issue is the foot straps. Now I don’t really pull against the straps when I am rowing but I do tend to snug them up tight to keep my feet from sliding around. When I went to pull the straps tight on the 5th use, the left strap broke free from the mounting whole. The little plastic wall that the strap loops through snapped. I rerouted the strap under the foot pad to compensate but this was just a poor design.
The app,…. the app is nothing to write home about but does allow a better screen to view rowing metrics and it also allows you to keep a log of each session. This is nice but that is about as far as it goes with the usefulness. The videos are only helpful if you are very new to rowing and will get old quickly as each video starts with how to setup and get strapped into your machine. Most of the other none tutorial videos are of water ways from China? and although I understand in an actual boat you row facing backward, it feels off when watching it on a video. This could just be me but that is my view.
All in all this machine has been taking the beating I have been giving it and is working for my needs. As long as you keep the couple issues in mind it will work good for many of those serching for a budget friendly water rower.
