RECOVERY BOOTS are simply the BEST investment any serious athlete can make.
As a Professional Triathlete & Ironman champion with over 35 career wins, 150+ triathlon, and 50+ marathons I can say that I have put a lifetime of abuse on my body in a very short time. Recovery is absolutely essential to every professional athlete and every pro NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB team is using compression boots. Even King James has a pair and is reported to spend $2 million on his recovery every year.
With that being said there are many different options out there and Normatec is one of the more expensive units although their much bigger, bulkier unit was just $5000 a few years back so prices have come down substantially. I have been reviewing recovery compression boots for many years and I have tested them all and put out detailed comparison reviews on my blog and I have developed a little niche testing out all the devices.
As far as the NormaTec Pulse 2.0 system goes let’s compare it against the NormaTec Pulse 1.0 system.
What is BETTER in the NormaTec Pulse 2.0 system:
– 37% smaller and 6oz lighter
– Has bluetooth so you can use your iOS/Android app to control pressure and time
– Connect to strava/training peaks for automatic upload (must use bluetooth)
– Touchscreen LCD including buttons vs tactile buttons on Pulse with an LCD display
– Price is $1295 versus $1495
What is the same:
– Goes to the same 100mmHg with a 110mmHg for one single zone in the zone boost
– Backward compatible with all hoses and attachments on the Pulse 1.0
– Durability and 2-year warranty including YKK zippers
What is worse:
– Battery life is down to sub 2 hours in my testing on pressure level 5 versus around 3 hours
– Noticed some fading on the LCD screen and had some zipper issues with my pair with the zippers getting stuck.
Final opinion
Normatec makes an awesome pair of recovery compression boots that make recovery fun and enjoyable. They are a little on the pricey side at $1295 when there are more affordable options out there. My current affordable pair is by a company called Speed Hound. I did a comparison review of these against Normatec and they are half the price at $650 and are every bit as good. G-search Thomas Gerlach Speed Hound vs Normatec if you are interested in more details. Otherwise, Normatec is a great choice as well.

Had this for less than a year and it’s already stopped working….damn shame because we are a family full of athletes and really love this product. Hopefully, they will make it right….
Update: Still can’t get a hold of the seller. Left messages and no return. Buy it somewhere else if you’re going to purchase.

Obrigado

When this product works, it works great. I road cycle and ride MTB and put in 130 miles a week between the 2. I’m in my 40’s and recovery is an issue now and a friend of mine recommended this product. It helped with the soreness and my endurance performance going on back to back rides. With that said, my unit was well maintained and taken care of. From the first day I had it, the connector of the hoses has always made a hissing sound. Now the hissing sound has become extremely loud and the bags don’t inflate with an error symbol displaying on the LED screen. I have reached out to customer support over the weekend and it’s been 3 business days and still no response. It may be due to COVID, however, when you spend $995 for a product that fails as fast as it has, you would expect some resultion quickly. This hasn’t been the case. As I mentioned, when this product works, it will help you recover. If I get resolution to this issue I’ll update. To recap I ordered this unit on May 5th, 2020, used 20 times, it has failed, customer service has yet to respond after being contacted, left a voicemail, emailed, over 3 business days.
Update: After a few weeks customer support followed up with me and sent me a a new hose connector. That solved the issue. Have used quite a bit since with no issues over the last 4 months.

I just went through bilateral knee replacement . My physical therapist used the Normatec pulse to reduce the swelling and increase circulation. I was struggling with reducing the swelling with icing , elevating the knees and rest . The first session was 15 minutes . After the session I could visibly see a reduction in the swelling and was able to increase my range of motion . I felt so Much better and was so impressed I went online and ordered the Normatec pulse . Yes, it is pricey and their are less cost effective alternative products . After doing my research, reviews and speaking with my physical therapist, I decided to purchase the Normatec pulse . The old adage you get what you pay for . The physical therapist had the Normatec for 4 years , daily use , no problem. You take it out of the box , charge and connect the hoses . Very simple and straightforward. Now that I have my own and I am using several times a day, my swelling has gone down, I am getting Range of motion and walking better. This has been a game changer for me. I would not be recovering nearly as fast if I did not have this unit . My only regret is that I did not know about this product until I had surgery. Had I have known, I would have ordered it before my surgery so I could start using it from day one . I will be using it the rest of my life as it is normal to have in reserved swelling with knee replacement surgery. Once I resume all of my normal activities, the swelling and muscle fatigue will set it. That is when in will use a session with the Normatec. It will go with me wherever I go. Easily transported. TSA approved check in for traveling . I highly recommend this product for everyone.
